¿Por qué es importante el Día de la Mujer?
El Día Internacional de la Mujer se celebra el 8 de marzo de cada año y ha sido proclamado por las Naciones Unidas como el día de los derechos de las mujeres y la paz mundial. En este día podemos reconocer cómo ha progresado la sociedad y podemos apreciar a las mujeres que han luchado contra la discriminación de género y por nuestro derecho a votar.
Al mismo tiempo, es importante reconocer las dificultades de las mujeres en todo el mundo y, aunque ha habido avances en los últimos 100 años, todavía hay mucho trabajo por hacer para lograr la igualdad entre hombres y mujeres.
Las obras de ESYCU
La Fundación Esycu celebra este día llamando la atención sobre nuestros proyectos dirigidos a mujeres y niñas, y también destacando el increíble trabajo de nuestros voluntarios porque sin ellos, ¡los proyectos no serían posibles!
El Proyecto Mare, por ejemplo, tiene su sede en el distrito de Nazaret, que es muy multicultural y está habitado por familias de diferentes países. El proyecto está dirigido a mujeres cuya necesidad de mejorar sus habilidades en el idioma español. De esta manera, los voluntarios que trabajan con las mujeres no solo ayudan con su desarrollo personal sino también con la inclusión social. Con un mejor idioma, las mujeres tienen más probabilidades de encontrar un trabajo y de esta manera apoyar financieramente a sus familias y también contribuir a la comunidad en Nazaret.
En Esycu actuamos a nivel local y global, lo que significa que somos conscientes de los problemas clave que enfrentan las mujeres en todo el mundo e intentamos actuar en el país pero también en el extranjero. Como resultado, la fundación Esycu colabora en varios proyectos en Perú. Una de ellas es en apoyo del Hogar Santa María Goretti en Huancarama, que brinda asistencia a niñas huérfanas de entre 8 y 18 años que viven en la pobreza extrema. El objetivo del Hogar es asegurarse de que las niñas asistan a la escuela todos los días y ayudar con su dieta. De esta manera, el rendimiento escolar de las niñas es mejor y es menos probable que estén sujetos a enfermedades. Otro proyecto en Perú es el Instituto de Mujeres de Condoray que apoya la capacitación de mujeres otorgándoles becas para ayudarlas a completar su educación superior. De esta manera, las mujeres no solo son capaces de encontrar empleo, sino también de mantener económicamente a sus familias y, por lo tanto, escapar de la pobreza. Los proyectos en Perú están financiados por varias asociaciones y también por particulares. Cada año también enviamos voluntarios para participar en estos proyectos y para ayudar a estas mujeres de primera mano. ¡La educación y la capacitación son las herramientas más importantes para que las niñas y mujeres en Perú y en el resto del mundo cambien sus vidas y contribuyan a la igualdad!
Why is Women´s Day important?
International Women´s Day takes place on the 8th March every year and it has been proclaimed by the United Nations as the day for women´s rights and world peace. On this day we can recognise how society has progressed and we can appreciate the women that have fought against gender discrimination and for our right to vote.
Simultaneously, it is important to recognise the hardships of women around the world and although there has been progress in the last 100 years, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done in order to achieve eqality for men and women.
The Works of Esycu
Esycu Foundation celebrates this day by drawing attention to our projects aimed at women and girls and also highlighting the amazing work of our volunteers because without them the projects wouldn´t be possible!
Project Mare for example, is based in the district of Nazaret which is very multi-cultural and inhabited by families from different countries. The project targets women which need to improve their Spanish language skills. In this way, the volunteers working with the women not only help with their personal development however also social inclusion. With improved Spanish, the women are more likely to find a job and in this way financially support their families and also contribute to the community in Nazaret.
At Esycu we act locally and globally which means that we are aware of the key problems that women face around the world and try to take action at home but also abroad. As a result, Esycu foundation collaborates on several projects in Peru. One of them is in support of the Hogar Santa Maria Goretti in Huancarama which provides for orphaned girls aged 8 to 18 who live in extreme poverty. The objective of the Home is to make sure that the girls attend school every day and the objective of Esycu is to help with their diet. In such a way, the school performance of the girls is better and they are less likely to be subject to illness.
Another project in Peru is based at the Women´s Institute of Condoray and supports the training of women by giving them scholarships in order to help them complete their higher education. In this way, the women are not only able to find employment easier, but also financially provide for their families and therefore escape from poverty. The projects in Peru are financied by various associations and also by private individuals. Every year we also send volunteers to take part in these project and to help these women first hand. Education and training is the most imporant tool for the girls and women in Peru to change their lives and contribute to equality!
